RUY SÁNCHEZ, ALBERTO
The book collections of Antonio Castro Leal, José Luis Martínez, Alí Chumacero, Jaime García Terrés and Carlos Monsiváis are the five great pillars of the "City of Books." Architects Bernardo Gómez-Pimienta and Alejandro Sánchez redesigned and restored the eighteenth-century tobacco factory-incorporating modifications made to it by Abraham Zabludovsky in the 1980s-to transform it into the Ciudad de los Libros, a library unrivalled in Mexico.
